It is very easy to prepare this dish. Today I will show you the easiest way to prepare Lemon Bowl Chicken Curry.

Ingredients: (serves 4)

  • 2 Cups boneless chicken (cut into small pieces)
  • 3 tsp ginger paste
  • 3 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream or malai (optional, use for richness and taste)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder or Haldi
  • Salt to taste.

For the spice paste:

4 whole dry red chillies, soaked in water for 15 minutes and then blended with little water.

Other ingredients:

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 2 dried bay leaves (tej pata)
  • 1 pinch asafetida (hing)
  • Juice of half a lemon.

Direction for Making Lemon Bowl Chicken Curry

1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.

2. Once the seeds crackled, add onion, ginger-garlic paste and turmeric powder. Saute it on a medium flame for 3 minutes. Do not burn it. Otherwise, your dish will have a bitter taste.

3. Add spice paste, chicken pieces and salt to taste. Add 4-5 tbsp water and cook it on low flame for 3 minutes.

4. Add fresh cream or malai, stir well and cover the lid. Cook it for 5 minutes on low flame while stirring in between gently to avoid breaking of chicken pieces.

5. Now add lemon juice and turn off the stove immediately. Keep the pan covered for 6 minutes so that all the spices get blended well. Garnish with coriander leaves (cilantro). Serve hot with Naan or paratha.

Note: You can skip cream to make this dish healthy. You can also use yogurt instead of cream for richness and taste. If you are using yogurt, keep the dish on sim for 5 minutes after adding lemon juice.
